Being In Survival Mode VS Being In the Flow
Would you rather 1. Hustle your way through life? or 2. Be in the flow?
The first option definitely works for many.. but from my experience it is short-lived. Ultimately everyone I know would rather find their zone of zen.
Personally, I would rather be in the flow and allow life to flow with innate power that I hold. The opposite – using force to accomplish projects is something I used to be great at. But using force for too long wasn’t great for me. Read more about me here.
When I did over-use force to accomplish my projects, meet deadlines and create momentum in my life, I also ended up hurting myself in the process. And that is why I have made a conscious choice to allow abundance to flow through me, by simply choosing to let go of what is not me.
But where’s the hustle in that? Trendy or not, I cannot do hustle anymore. It’s too taxing on my brain and my body and my overall well-being. I am not saying you shouldn’t either. But when you do follow the hustle culture and abide by it, you are also closing doors to the magic you can experience by just being in the moment. In fact the only hustle I have left in me is the hustle to find myself centred in the present moment.
And that is what I teach. How can you bring yourself more in the present moment each day. That is the definition of true success.
Signs of Survival Through Force, Not Power
Before I get into strategies to bring oneself into presence let’s learn more about signs of being in survival. Once you understand the difference between the two, you’ll be better able to choose wisely.
Being in survival often results in chronic fatigue and exhaustion. And we all want to live happy, healthy and peaceful lives while succeeding at life. I am here to tell you that there is another way.
But first let’s contemplate these questions.
1. What exactly does being in survival mode entail?
2. And how can you tell if you’re caught in its grasp?
3. Furthermore, is there an alternative to simply surviving?
4. And if so, how can you transition out of survival mode?
Here are some signs that you are in survival mode and need to start asking for help. I work as a a frequency coach and I help people transition out of survival.
How ? You might ask. I can’t tell you all the details here in this post but in short, when I work with you, you end up shifting your timeline. And hence their reality. Which then creates a brand new environment for them.
So are you living in survival mode? Some signs that you are might be:
1. Constant Stress: Experiencing frequent stressful moments throughout the day is a key indicator of being stuck in survival mode. If you find yourself constantly dealing with urgent or challenging situations, it often perpetuates a cycle of survival. Stress is simply a symptom of you not being centred. When you feel centred you feel more peace. Spending some time in nature or walking helps get us back into centre.
2. Insomnia: Difficulty sleeping often stems from persistent preoccupation with troubling thoughts. While short-term solutions like sleeping aids may help, seeking long-term relief involves identifying and addressing the underlying causes (in my world, frequencies) keeping you awake unnecessarily. Consulting with a medical professional for guidance is advisable in managing insomnia effectively.
3. Anger Issues: Do you get angry at the drop of a hat? Do you forget to breathe during your day? When your emotion of choice is anger, you have probably reached a high level of frustration and burn-out and are having trouble self regulating. Breathing and yoga have helped me in the past with feeling too angry. However, to find a long term solution that works, I urge you to find the frequency that anger is holding onto for you.
4. Burn-Out: Do you feel that you just can’t keep up with life’s constant demands? You want to take it easy, but can’t relax enough to just go with the flow? You guessed it, being in survival mode prevents you from being in the flow. And being in survival for too long does cause burn-out. When one is burnt-out, life’s simple pleasures like being around children, reading, having a meal become “chores” and another cause for stress.
5. Addictions: Dependence on alcohol or another addictive substance is a huge sign of being in survival mode. Alcohol is usually used to escape current circumstances. If you do consume alcohol for the purposes of escaping life’s problems, you will not be able to come up with solutions to solve your problems. If you use addictive substances, know that you will start to feel more disconnected with your being-ness with time. And that will create other long term issues.
6. Focus: Not being able to focus on the task at hand is a sign that you are too stressed. Not being able to relax to complete a task from start to finish is a sure shot sign of being in survival mode.
7. Impatience: This is one that is often ignored. Being impatient with your family, employees, colleagues, the gal at the cash register are all signs that you aren’t able to handle one more thing going wrong. In my opinion, that is the definition of being in survival mode.
What's Next? Transition Out of Survival.
There is a better way. A more peaceful way of living. And by shifting your timelines, you can definitely get closer to living a life that is generally more joyful.
I am not saying that I am in complete peace. But I am definitely closer to joy than I was before I started this work. I am closer to my personal mission. And I am taking steps daily towards it without the stress, fatigue and burn-out.
My relationships are more fulfilling and I do not survive to please people. Survival for me is a privilege because of the positive impact I am creating just by shining my light in the world.
So I am here to tell you that you can too change your perspective about what life is really about. You can start to live a life of action rather than consequence by shifting your perspective. You can create a future that is based on the choices you make in the present rather than a future based on the past.
