If you want flow, discover your self-worth now
Why is Flow State So Elusive?
Having access to flow state has always been an invaluable ability, especially for creatives like authors, speakers and artists of all types.
Increasingly, professionals across fields—whether they identify as creative or not—are seeking the unmatched efficiency and focus that come with being “in the zone.”
This has less to do with being creative and more to do with achieving work/life balance people desire. Professionals are tired and want to achieve unmatched efficiency so they can focus on their personal life as well they do in their professional life.
Countless tips and techniques promise to help achieve this elusive state, but few truly address the underlying secret to sustaining it. I can’t scientifically prove that I have the secret but I can share my experience with it.
I didn’t understand the ABC’s of staying in flow either—until recently. Now, with newfound clarity, I feel compelled to share insights on achieving and maintaining flow states. It’s more than a productivity hack; it’s a transformative way of engaging with your work and life.
What does self-worth have to do with being in the flow?
Absolutely everything. Your level of self-worth dictates how long you can sustain flow states without any resistance from within.
This might be hard to explain, for me, but I shall try. This is the first time I am trying to explain the relationship between self worth and flow state so please bear with me and if you have any questions about this or if you need a deeper explanation, please connect with me.
How deeply you are connected to yourself – some call it intuition – determines how easily you can enter ‘flow’ and stay there.
Your self-worth deeply impacts your relationship to yourself. And that relationship is what you need to rely on to continue to stay in flow.
As I am trying to explain this, I think it’s best to define a few terms like ‘self worth’ and ‘flow state’. Keep reading.
What is true self-worth from my POV?
Let’s start by looking at the traditional definition of self-worth. According to Merriam-Webster, it’s defined as “a sense of one’s own value as a human being.” But this definition is too vague and often misunderstood. Many people confuse self-worth with the value society places on them—through accolades, positions, wealth, or family status. Some measure their worth by counting their assets, much like an accountant.
This external form of self-worth is based on achievements and material markers, but…
This is not the self-worth I’m referring to.
The self-worth I speak of comes from a deep connection to your creator—your highest self. Whether you call it God, the Universe, or something else, the more you strengthen your connection to your “I AM” state, the more you embody your authentic self-worth.
As you tune into your intuition or inner knowing, you’ll start receiving guidance directly from your higher self. This is when you can truly experience healthy, authentic self-worth. Of course, this can be cultivated over time, but it requires continuous fine-tuning of your connection with your true self.
If you are still living based on external validation, you may access self-esteem or pride, but not real self-worth.
To truly access self-worth, you must live according to your higher self. It may not make sense until you experience it, but if living according to the expectations of others is no longer working, this message will resonate. Living for others creates constant boundaries and resistance, which leads to suffering and prevents you from truly living.
Here’s a short video I created on becoming ‘boundary-less’. Check it out!
Real flow states are an automatic result of real self-worth
I’ve tried countless methods to access flow states—coffee, chocolate, exercise, meditation, automatic writing, routines, cold showers, walks in nature and even breath-work. But the states I’d enter never lasted long. A distraction would always break my concentration, and getting back into the zone required immense willpower and focus to repeat the techniques.
However, everything changed when I began to clean up my frequencies and reached a level of self-worth not defined by external factors. I started trusting myself more—my own inner knowing became stronger than relying on others’ advice.
I distinctly remember the moment when my higher self communicated clearly with me about a decision in my business. I didn’t try to rationalize it; I simply surrendered and made the change. Even though a couple of trusted family members thought my decision was illogical, I knew it was the right move to align myself with my highest self. The following day, the decision proved to be exactly what my business needed, and those family members were left speechless.
That deep self-trust enabled me to enter flow intentionally and remain there for as long as I chose. Distraction free. Hint: Distractions were related to the patterns I ran.
Self-trust is inseparable from self-worth, and self-worth is the ultimate outcome of deep inner work. Flow is just one benefit of higher self-worth. There’s so much more that unfolds, but we can discuss that later.
